Role Overview
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Editor to lead the acquisition and development of fiction and literary titles for QuillBees. You will be the primary creative partner for a list of authors, guiding manuscripts from first submission through to final publication-ready text.
What You Will Do
- Evaluate submissions and make acquisition recommendations to the editorial board
- Provide developmental edits, line edits, and detailed editorial letters for each manuscript on your list
- Work closely with authors to develop their voice, structure, and narrative over multiple drafts
- Collaborate with design, production, and marketing to deliver titles on schedule and to the highest standard
- Represent QuillBees at literary festivals, author events, and industry gatherings
- Stay current with trends in literary fiction, debut authors, and international publishing
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of editorial experience in trade or literary publishing
- A demonstrable list of published titles across fiction genres
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong relationships with literary agents and author communities
- Deep knowledge of the South Asian and international literary landscape
- Ability to manage multiple manuscripts across different stages simultaneously
Nice to Have
- Experience with rights sales and co-publishing agreements
- Familiarity with digital publishing formats and e-book production
- A second language, particularly Hindi, Bengali, or Tamil
